Texa Desk
What is Texa Desk?
Texa Desk is customer service software for African businesses. It puts WhatsApp, phone calls, email, SMS, web chat, Instagram, Messenger and Telegram in one inbox for your team, on the web and on iPhone and Android. Texa, the AI built into it, replies to customers, checks your own systems and passes difficult cases to your people with a note. Texa Desk also runs campaigns, surveys and customer research, and reports on all of it.
Is Texa a chatbot?
Texa is an AI that only talks about your business. It answers your customers’ questions, checks your records and takes the actions you allow, and it politely declines anything off topic, such as writing a poem. That also keeps you within WhatsApp’s rules against general-purpose chatbots. Texa tells customers it is an AI on every channel.
How is Texa Desk different from Intercom, Zendesk or Freshdesk?
Texa Desk is built for how African customers reach businesses. It understands voice notes and Nigerian Pidgin and Hausa, bills in naira by bank transfer, handles complaints the way the CBN and NCC expect, can keep your data in Nigeria, and reaches core banking systems behind a firewall through Texa Relay. If you already use one of those helpdesks, you can keep it and add Texa to it.
Texa
Does Texa understand Pidgin and Hausa?
Yes. Texa speaks English, Nigerian Pidgin and Hausa today. Yoruba and Igbo are coming once native speakers have checked them. A customer who writes in a language your business hasn’t switched on is answered in English and told which languages are available.
Can Texa understand voice notes and photos?
Yes. Texa transcribes voice notes, reads receipts, screenshots and documents (PDF and Word), listens to videos, and uses locations customers share. It treats what a photo or voice note says as the customer’s claim, so a receipt marked “successful” is checked against your records before Texa tells the customer anything. It can also reply with voice notes if you switch that on.
Can Texa check a transfer, block a card or issue a refund?
Yes, through connections you approve. Texa can call your API (import an OpenAPI file; API key, bearer, OAuth 2.0, Basic or HMAC sign-in), send a signed request your servers answer, or go through Texa Relay inside your network. Anything that changes something needs the customer’s clear yes, verification if you require it, and the limits you set, such as a maximum refund. A thumbs-up or a sticker never counts as a yes.
What happens when Texa can’t help?
It passes the conversation to the team responsible, with a private note of what the customer wants, what was checked and whether they are verified. From then on it stays quiet. Your agent can hand the conversation back with a note, and Texa continues from there.
Live chat
Can I add live chat to my website?
Yes. Create a website inbox in Texa Desk, choose its name, colour and greeting, and paste one line of code into your website, or send it to your developer. It works on any website where you can add a script, including WordPress and Shopify. Texa answers visitors in seconds at any hour, and your team can join the same conversation from the inbox.
Who answers the live chat at night?
Texa does. It answers visitors at any hour from your approved information, looks up signed-in customers’ accounts if you allow it, and leaves anything that needs a person for your team, who see it in the inbox when they start work.
Safety
How do I know Texa won’t make things up?
Every reply is checked before a customer sees it. Texa only states facts it has looked up, takes fees, limits and dates from your approved information, and shares private details only after the customer is verified. You start in shadow mode, where Texa writes drafts and your team sends them, then let it reply to 10% of conversations, then more, with each step lasting at least three days. One switch hands everything back to your team.
Pricing
How much does Texa Desk cost?
Texa Desk uses prepaid credits, and 1 credit is ₦1. Your first person is free, and each extra person is 10,000 credits a month, drawn a day at a time. A reply from Texa is 25 credits, and a conversation it solves costs 100 more, so a typical solved conversation of six replies costs about 250 credits. New accounts get 5,000 free credits. You top up by bank transfer, through Flutterwave, and Nigerian VAT of 7.5% is added to each top-up.
Do credits expire?
Credits expire 12 months after your account last added credits, and you get a notice 30 days before. Any top-up keeps the whole balance alive, so an active account never loses credits.
What happens when credits run out?
Texa pauses and your team answers every conversation, so nothing is dropped. Texa starts again as soon as a top-up is paid. You are warned at 20% and 5% of your last top-up, and again at zero.
Your data
Can our data stay in Nigeria?
Yes. Texa Desk can run on Texa’s standard hosting, on Texa’s hosting in Nigeria, or as a dedicated instance in the country you choose, on your own domains. The Safety page shows where each part runs, including where the AI model processes messages. You can require a country, and the go-live checklist then fails, in plain words, while any part is elsewhere.
Is Texa Desk built for the Nigeria Data Protection Act?
Yes. Texa acts as your data processor under a data processing agreement. You can download everything held about one customer, or delete them across Texa Desk and Texa in one action. Card numbers, PINs, BVN and NIN are masked before anything is stored, and Texa never repeats them.
Integrations
We already use Zendesk. Can we keep it?
Yes. Texa can work inside Zendesk, Freshdesk, Salesforce Service Cloud, Intercom, HubSpot and Zoho Desk, with the same knowledge, processes and safety checks. It starts by writing internal notes, replies as its own agent when you go live, and passes tickets to your groups with a summary.
Does it work with core banking systems behind a firewall?
Yes, through Texa Relay, a small program your team runs inside your network. It connects out to Texa over mutual TLS, so you don’t open an inbound firewall port. It runs only the named read queries you approve, with row limits and column masking, keeps its own audit log, and can be switched off from either side.
Can developers build Texa into their own app?
Yes. The Texa API has SDKs for Python, JavaScript and TypeScript, PHP, Go and Swift (Java and Flutter are coming soon), a website chat that knows your signed-in customers, a React Native component, signed webhooks and an MCP server. Test keys use a free sandbox of 2,000 requests a month. The documentation is at developers.texadesk.com.
Getting started
How do we get started?
Sign up, connect the channel your customers already use, and answer the set-up guide one question at a time. Texa checks every business before it talks to that business’s customers. You add what Texa should know, approve how it handles your common requests, and test it with simulated customers before a real customer meets it.
Which countries does Texa Desk serve?
Texa Desk is built in Nigeria and serves businesses across Africa. Complaint handling follows the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigerian Communications Commission, the Central Bank of Kenya and the Bank of Ghana.
