Getting started

Verify your business to unlock more

Why verifying matters, what each stage opens, and how to verify automatically with your NIN and a selfie or by hand with your papers.

Help centreUpdated on

Answering customers who write to you is open from the day you sign up. You only need to verify when you want more: campaigns, more people, more inboxes or more branches. Verifying also protects your customers and your WhatsApp number, because it is how Texa knows a real, accountable business is behind the messages you send first.

The stages

Each stage opens more. You can go straight to the stage that fits your business; a registered company doesn’t have to start as a Starter.

Meta’s own WhatsApp messaging limits still apply at every stage. A new company’s campaigns also build up to the stage’s daily limit after a few clean sends.

Start verifying

Open the banner at the top of Texa Desk, or go to Settings → Company, then choose Verify. You’ll be asked:

  1. What kind of business is it? Choose limited company, business name or not registered. More choices (an NGO, a government body or something else) are under Choose another.
  2. The RC or BN number. It’s on your CAC certificate. A business that isn’t registered skips this.
  3. A website or social page, such as your Instagram, for a business name or a company. Texa looks at it when checking the business, and so does WhatsApp.
  4. How do you want to verify? Automatically or by hand.

Automatically, in about a minute (Nigeria)

The person verifying types their NIN and takes a live selfie, in a secure page inside the guide. Texa matches the selfie to the photo on the NIN record.

  • Not registered: your own NIN and selfie.
  • Registered business: the person signing must be on CAC’s record for the business. For a business name, that’s a proprietor or partner. For a company, it’s a director, a person with significant control or the secretary. A shareholder alone may not sign.

If the check passes and CAC’s record matches, the business is verified at once. If anything doesn’t match, the details go to Texa staff, who reply within one working day.

For a clear selfie, face a window or a lamp rather than having it behind you, and keep your whole face in the frame. Texa keeps the NIN sealed and doesn’t keep the photos.

By hand, within a working day (any country)

Choose By hand if you’re outside Nigeria, if the automatic check didn’t work, or if you prefer it.

  • Not registered: your full name as it is on your ID, and a photo of the ID: an NIN slip, national ID card, driver’s licence or passport.
  • Registered business: who signs for the business, the registration certificate, and a photo of the signer’s ID.

Files can be PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB. Make sure the photo shows the whole card with all four corners, has no glare, and is sharp enough to read every word.

Then choose Check your answers and send. Texa staff reply within one working day, by email and on the same page.

If Texa asks a question

Sometimes Texa staff need one more thing. You’ll see their question in the guide. Choose Answer Texa’s question, write your answer, and send again. If an application is refused, the guide says why, and Fix and send again lets you correct it.

Moving up later

A verified Starter that registers with CAC, or a business name that becomes a limited company, can verify again with its new papers. The page shows what the next stage opens. A limited company that needs its own limits, single sign-on or a dedicated instance can choose Ask about Enterprise.
