The Texa API builds Texa AI into your own app, website or backend: open conversations, send customers’ messages, get Texa AI’s replies, and hand over to your team in Texa Desk.
Make a key
- Go to Texa AI → Developers.
- Choose New API key, give it a Name for what will use it (such as “mobile app backend”), and choose the Environment:
- Sandbox keys reach a copy of your setup, where nothing reaches a real customer. Free, up to 2,000 requests a month.
- Live keys reach your customers, and use credits.
- Copy the key, and choose I have copied it. This is the only time it’s shown. If it’s lost, revoke it and make another.
Keep keys on your server, never in an app or a web page.
Where to start
- Documentation: guides and API reference at api.texadesk.com/docs.
- API reference: api.texadesk.com/docs/reference.
- OpenAPI document: api.texadesk.com/v1/openapi.json.
- SDKs in six languages. See SDKs.
When Texa AI hands over
Under When Texa AI hands over, choose who answers when a conversation from your app needs a person. The conversation appears in Texa Desk, in an inbox for your app, with Texa AI’s summary. Your team’s reply goes back to your server as an event.
Good to know
- Rate limits: sandbox keys allow 60 requests a minute. A request over the limit gets
429withRetry-After. - Idempotency: send an
Idempotency-Keyheader, so a retried request never opens two conversations or sends a message twice. - An empty balance: the API answers
402until you top up.
The request log
Texa AI → Developers → Logs lists every request made with your keys in the last 30 days: what was asked, how it went and how long it took, never the request’s body. Quote a request’s id to Texa support if you need help with it.
Events
To hear about replies, hand-overs and closed conversations as they happen, add a webhook. See Webhooks.
